I finally knit that Peruvian hat for my friend! I am mighty proud of it, too! It turns out that the reason I procrastinated wasn't because I didn't know how to do it, it was that I was so scared of disappointing him. It only took me about a week to knit the hat and when he received it (I mailed it to him) he was impressed and seems to really like it! The only model I had while knitting the hat was my hubby, so the hat was a bit large on him, but that's what I had to work with! Anyway, I am feeling a bit more accomplished now. I guess I'm also a little relieved that he didn't hate it. My self confidence in my work is definitely something I need to work on. I knit things for people all the time and if they don't like it, then it shouldn't bother me...but it does. Maybe I'll get over that one of these days.
Well, I was on such a knitting 'high' that when I finished the hat I decided to knit myself some half finger gloves. I like to knit while watching my hubby's softball games and since they play year-round it can get a bit cold. I hadn't knit gloves before and I think they turned out really well...for my first pair! The down-side to the gloves is that they're a little thick. I used a wool yarn I thought would be warm, which I am sure it will be, but they might be too thick to be comfortable while knitting. I really enjoyed knitting them so I look forward to making another pair!
That is all for now...

After a very long break...
Ok, so I'm going to try and keep this thing updated but not making any promises. :-)
I was asked almost 2 yrs ago to knit a hat for a friend. Yes, I said 2 yrs!!! I think I've had "knitter's block" or something. I haven't knit anything since last Christmas. I miss it but couldn't seem to get enough energy to actually do something about it...until now. I think I have found the pattern I've been looking for and am ready to tackle the hat. I think something about it intimidated me. He wants a Peruvian hat and I've never knit a hat with earflaps. For some reason, I just couldn't think outside the box on this one. (I still haven't even tried a sweater, which is something I've been saying I want to do for 3 yrs now). Anyway, my friend Dominique, (whom I've known since 5th grade) has been extremely patient with me and I thank him for that. So, I am starting the project this week. I'll post pics when I finish and hope it isn't a disaster!! ;-)
